Last year, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse set a record by opening to nearly 4,500 screens across the country on opening weekend.
That record will remain intact for a while longer because The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opened to 4,061 theaters this weekend, per Box Office Mojo.
That figure will still put Breaking Dawn – Part 1‘s release thirty-second on the list of all-time widest releases, but it’ll be the third-widest Twilight Saga release.
Here are the theater numbers for each of the Saga films to-date:
- Twilight – 3,419
- The Twilight Saga: New Moon - 4,024
- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – 4,468
- The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 – 4,061
We’re talking about a matter of a couple of hundred theaters of variation between Eclipse and Breaking Dawn – Part 1, which amounts to roughly 8 theaters less per state.
But according to Variety, the midnight opening release took place at 3,250 theaters across the U.S.
